Unify Energy Inc. is an energy storage solutions company, formed in 2014, to deploy and integrate emerging Regenerative Air Energy Storage (RAES) technology from LightSail Energy Inc (LightSail). The integrated systems will provide dispatchable electrical energy storage in a variety of electricity generation applications, including intermittent renewable energy resources.

Alberta Innovates - Energy and Environment Soultions (AI-EES) is the lead agency for advancing energy and environmental technology innovation in Alberta. AI-EES brings together decision makers from government, industry and the resource community, as well as research and technology organizations, to develop solutions for the biggest challenges facing Alberta's energy and environment sectors. AI-EES is supporting the Liverpool project by providing $250,000 in funding to demonstrate RAES and in Nova Scotia, while proving the technology's ability to integrate renewable energy for Alberta.

One Wind Inc. provides development, construction, and operations & maintenance services to the wind energy industry across North America. One Wind are taking the lead on the wind energy project development in Liverpool. 

 

Watts Wind Energy Inc was incorporated on October 15, 2009 as a Community Economic Development Corporation ("CEDC") under the provisions of the Nova Scotia Companies Act. The Company develops and operates wind turbines in Nova Scotia.  Projects are focused on the Nova Scotia COMFIT program.  Watts Wind has a portfolio of 8 wind projects across Nova Scotia totalling over 24 MW of capacity.

LightSail Energy is one of the technology partners for the project. The Liverpool Wind Energy Storage Project is the first commercial application of LightSail's Regenerative Air Energy Storage technology. LightSail is aiming to produce the world's most cost-effective energy storage system due to its high efficiency, long lifetime, and operational flexibility.

Dalhousie University's Renewable Energy Storage Lab (RESL) is playing an important role in the project through the development and execution of a performance measurement and verification program. RESL is an industry focused research team whose goal is the development of energy storage systems to support the integration of renewable energy.

ENERCON is a wind turbine manufacturer based in Germany, with a strong presence in Canada as the country's largest employer in the wind industry. ENERCON's national service center is based in Dartmouth, NS. ENERCON is supplying the wind turbines for the Liverpool project.
